1.1 Gabriel Garcia Marquez

He was born 6th of mars in 1927 and he died the 17 of April in 2014. He died by a sickness called Alzheimer.
He wrote:

     He had a cancer a lymphatic cancer, but he beat it! 


1.2   Gustavo Rojas Pinilla

He was borne the 12 of mars in the 1900, he died in the 17 of January in the 1975 at the age of 74 years.
He was a military, a civil engineer and a politician.
He had 3 children:

Carlos Rojas Correa



1.3  Policarpa Salavarrieta
She was born the 26 January 1795, she died the 14 November 1817.
She was captured by Spanish Royalists and ultimately executed for high treason. She is now considered a heroine of the independence of Colombia.
She appears in the 10 thousand pesos bill and also has an statue in la candelaria.


1.4   Jorge Eliecer Gaitán

He was born the January 23, 1903 and died in April 9, 1948.
as a politician, a leader of a populist movement in Colombia, a former Education Minister (1940) and Labor Minister (1943–1944), mayor of Bogotá (1936) and one of the most charismatic leaders of the Liberal Party.
He was assassinated. He was the cause of the Bogotazo


1.5  Jaime Garzón

Jaime Hernando Garzón Forero (October 24, 1960 – August 13, 1999 in Bogotá) was a Colombian journalist, a comedian, lawyer, peace activist and political satirist. He was popular on Colombian television during the 1990s for his political satire.
 In addition to his work on television, he also had roles as a peace negotiator in the release of FARC guerrillas' hostages.
 He was murdered allegedly by suspected right-wing paramilitary forces in 1999.


1.6   Alfonso Cano

Guillermo León Sáenz Vargas (22 July 1948 – 4 November 2011),[1] more commonly known by his nom de guerre Alfonso Cano was the commander of the militant group known as Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia, FARC). He succeeded founder Manuel Marulanda (alias Sureshot, in Spanish: Tirofijo) in March 2008 and commanded the Marxist rebel group until being killed in action by the Colombian Army.


1.7   Ana Mercedes Hoyos

Colombian painter and sculptor Ana Mercedes Hoyos, a paradigm of the arts in Latin America, died Friday in Bogota, her family said. She was 72.
She was born in 1942, the exact age is unknown.
She was a great painter
Her death is a terrible loss for art in Colombia.



1.8   Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angula

Luis Carlos Sarmiento Angulo (born 27 January 1933) is a Colombian billionaire and the wealthiest man in Colombia with a net worth of USD$12.4 billion as of 2012 that derives from the massive banking conglomerate Grupo Aval Acciones y Valores, SA, of which he is the majority shareholder and president.











Historical Dates

2.1 Bogota’s foundation
Following conquerors motto to found and to populate, Quesada decided to build an urban settlement to live in good order and under stable government. To the east on the foothills they found an Indian village named Teusaquillo near the Zipa’s recreation residence, supplied with water, wood and planting land and protected from winds by Monserrate and Guadalupe hills.

Although no document recording city foundation has been found, August 6, 1538 is accepted as foundation date. According to tradition, that day Priest Fray Domingo de las Casas said the first mass in a straw hut built near the current cathedral or near Santander park. It is said that the region was named New Kingdom of Granada that day and the village was named Santa Fe.

2.2 Independence
Political uneasiness felt all over Spaniard colonies in America was expressed in New Granada in many different ways accelerating independence process. One of the most transcendent was the Revolution of Comuneros, a population riot started in Villa del Socorro —current Department of Santander—in March 1781. Spanish authorities refrained the riot and José Antonio Galán, the leader was executed. He however left an imprint followed in 1794 by Antonio Nariño, precursor of independence by translating and publishing in Santafé, the Rights or Men and the Citizen, and by July 20 movement leaders in 1810. Independence outcry originated in an apparently slight dispute between Creole and Spaniards over the loan of a flowerpot but became popular upraise.

2.3 The great Colombia
In 1819 the Liberator created Gran Colombia, a national state formed by Venezuela, Nueva Granada and Quito.

2.4 Dissolution of great Colombia
Dissolved in 1830, the same year Simon Bolívar died in Santa Marta.

2.5 The railroad

The North railroad to join Bogotá and Carare river – Magdalena river affluent – dates back to radicalism times, but only started shaping when the first railroad section to Girardot was built, under government contract with Francisco Javier Cisneros in 1881, the first section of which joined the Magdalena port and Tocaima. In 1898 the rails reached Anapoima and in 1908 the rails linked the city and Facatativá. From that time Bogotanians were able to mobilize down to the Magdalena river using the rail road. Bogotá-Chapinero-Puente del Común section was inaugurated in 1894, Cajicá in 1896 and Zipaquirá in 1898. Including Soacha and Sibaté rails by the end of the Nineteenth century, Sabana de Bogotá counted on one hundred railroad kilometers.

Chorro de Quevedo


The plaza del Chorro de Quevedo is a public place in Bogotá. Here he established his garrison Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada, before founding the city in the current Plaza de Bolivar in 1538. It is located at 13 with race 2, in the historic center of the city. It is framed by colonial buildings and early twentieth century.


Plaza de bolívar

The Bolívar Square (Spanish: Plaza de Bolívar o Plaza Bolívar) is located in the heart of the historical area of Bogotá. It has a statue of Simón Bolívar sculpted in 1846 by the Italian Pietro Tenerani, which was the first ever public monument in the city. Plaza Bolívar is also the name given to the main square in every city or town of Venezuela, the native country of Simón Bolívar.

On the Northern side of the square is the Palace of Justice, a big modern building where the Supreme Court works. The history of the Justice Palace is tragic enough and maybe symbolic of the problems of the nation.


La casa del florero de Llorente

The Museum of Independence - House Vase, formerly Museum July 20, is a museum that is housed in a colonial building located on the northeast corner of the Plaza de Bolivar in Bogota in the race 7th to 11th Street.

For the history of Colombia's Independence Museum - Casa del vase is a very important place because he produced one of its highlights, known as the Grito de Independencia on July 20, 1810. Every July 20 is celebrates the "Independence" of Colombia in every city in the country with military parades and patriotic symbols honors.

  • The city exist until the street 170 (north) the other part were located paddocks. La Caracas was horrible and there wasn’t beautiful street

  • The historical part (Candelaria) because it have so many cultural parts in this place

Cultural aspects

5.1 Games


Tejo:
 The idea of the game is to throw the puck and put it in a metal circle (Bocin) in which the wicks are placed, winning the first game who complete 27 points, popping as many wicks, introducing the puck in the Bocin


Rana:
 It is a game launch multiple precision. In the superior part has several holes in the center a frog sitting with mouth open in front of it a mill, side’s two bridges and two holes and three holes behind. The chips are made of steel. The games are usually held ten runs. If the currency goes into the mouth of smoked earn 500 points.


Yermis
It is played between two teams with unlimited people, usually between 5 and 10 per team. The team that this striking (on offense) he is not worth walking with the ball, can only make passes between players of the same team. If a team player who is striking is at the back of one of his opponents, the latter can’t run anymore because it will be "covered"; then use a bat to stop the pitch. Usually rubber ball that fits in your hand or a tennis ball is used. The team is on the defensive port bats or sticks, used for the clearance of potential releases of the opposing team, trying to punch their opponents.


Tromp: 
A spin is an object that can rotate about a point. 


Golosa: 
On the floor a platform with various categories is drawn. The game begins when the first player throws a stone in the first division drawn on the ground. Then, you must hop on one foot into that category, collect the stone always on one foot and return to the game. If successful, it will try the second category; if not, give up his turn. This game consists of one to ten players.

In bogota are many cinemas where you can go and see a fantastic movie with your friends, with you family and  obviously with your girlfriend or boyfriend. You will pass an expectacular moment in this place. 


Museum: 
In bogota are many museum where you can go and know more from the history or from the art etc. In this place you can enlarge your knowledge and culture.


Malls:
 In this city are many malls were you can go an pass a nice time. You can go shopping or if you prefer just to walk and see the stores.


Restaurants: 
In this city are many kind of restaurants where you can go and have a delicious food. In Bogota there are different restaurants of different kinds of food can be Chinese, or haponesa, or even fast food.
